When Honey was found, it was difficult to imagine how long she had been forced to live in silence with so much pain. The poor dog had been abandoned in a devastating condition, left alone while an enormous mass continued to grow across her face. She was placed on anti-inflammatory medication to reduce the swelling and inflammation surrounding the enormous mass, while her caregivers worked carefully to improve her red blood cell count. Her face remained swollen from both the surgery and the inflammation, and she was still in the earliest and most critical stage of recovery. Yet even during those fragile days, Honey began showing small signs that she was still determined to fight.

As if the massive facial tumor had not already been enough, Honey was also found to have another tumor in her vagina. Her condition remained serious, and the future could not be guaranteed. Chemotherapy itself can be physically demanding, and her rescuers knew they would have to continue monitoring her carefully throughout treatment.

After only two chemotherapy sessions, there was encouraging news about the second tumor. The vaginal tumor had reportedly shrunk by approximately 60 percent. For Honey and everyone who had fought beside her, it was a powerful sign that her body was responding to the treatment and that hope was still alive.

More than three months after Honey had first been rescued, the transformation in her condition was becoming increasingly visible. She had started gaining weight and was generally in good spirits despite continuing to undergo chemotherapy.
