She Survived a Devastating Facial Injury—Now Fita Is Ready to Find a Family Who Will Love Her as She Is

When rescuers first found Fita on the streets, her appearance told a heartbreaking story. Much of her upper snout was missing, leaving her with a devastating facial injury that would change the way she ate, breathed, and experienced the world. But perhaps just as painful as her physical condition was the fear she carried. Whenever someone approached too closely, Fita became terrified, as though she had learned that getting close to people was something to fear rather than welcome.

No one knew exactly what had happened to her before that moment. The extent of her injuries raised serious concerns, and she clearly needed more help than she could ever receive while struggling to survive on the streets. Fortunately, Sadikman found her and made sure she had a chance to receive the veterinary care she desperately needed.

For Fita, that encounter marked the beginning of a long recovery—and the possibility of a future that looked very different from her past.

A Devastating Injury With No Easy Solution

At the veterinary clinic, an examination revealed just how serious Fita’s condition was. The injury extended deep into her face, reaching all the way to her tongue. It was a complex wound that required careful assessment, and the damage meant that her recovery would involve more than simply allowing the affected tissue to heal.

Over the following months, Fita received care and gradually began rebuilding her strength. One of the most encouraging changes was her weight. As her condition improved, she gained weight until she weighed approximately twice as much as she had when she was found.

That progress was significant. For an animal recovering from a severe injury and the hardships of street life, regaining body weight can be an important indication that adequate nourishment and care are helping restore physical condition. It was a welcome sign that Fita was moving away from the fragile state in which rescuers had discovered her.

However, there was one part of her injury that could not be reversed. Her upper snout could not be reconstructed, meaning she would have to learn to live with a permanent difference in her appearance.

For the people caring for her, accepting that reality meant focusing on what Fita could still do rather than defining her future by what she had lost.

Learning to Live Differently

Fita’s recovery was not about returning to exactly the same life she might have had before her injury. Instead, it was about discovering how to enjoy life with the body she had now.

Despite the extensive damage to her face, Fita can eat normally. This is an especially important part of her story because facial injuries can sometimes interfere with an animal’s ability to take in food comfortably. Her ability to eat shows that her condition does not prevent her from enjoying one of life’s most basic necessities.

And food is far from the only thing she can enjoy.

Fita can play with other dogs, interact with her surroundings, and participate in everyday activities. The injury that once made her situation appear so bleak has not taken away her ability to experience companionship or moments of happiness.

Perhaps one of the most touching details is that she still wags her tail when someone enters the room. That simple response offers a glimpse of a dog who, despite everything she has endured, remains capable of greeting others with warmth.

It would be easy to focus only on Fita’s missing snout and the severity of her injury. Yet watching her live her life reveals something much more meaningful: she is not defined solely by what happened to her.

Her recovery also highlights an important principle of animal welfare. When an animal has a permanent physical difference, its quality of life should be assessed by its comfort, abilities, behavior, and individual needs—not appearance alone. Fita’s ability to eat, play, and interact with other dogs shows why she deserves to be seen as a whole animal rather than simply as an injury.

The One Thing Fita Still Needs

Although Fita has made remarkable progress, her story has not yet reached its final chapter. She is now ready for something that medical treatment alone cannot provide: a permanent family.

She needs people who will look beyond her unusual appearance and recognize the dog waiting to share their home. Her future family will need patience, understanding, and a willingness to give her time to settle into a new environment. As with any dog, getting to know her individual personality and needs will be essential, particularly given her frightening experiences and serious injury.

The right family will not expect Fita to be a different-looking dog. They will welcome her exactly as she is, making sure she receives appropriate care while allowing her to enjoy the ordinary pleasures of life.

That could mean sharing meals, playing with canine companions, resting in a comfortable home, or greeting a familiar person with the wagging tail that has become such a hopeful part of her story.

These moments may seem small, but for a dog who once lived in fear and needed extensive help, they represent the kind of security every animal deserves.

A Different Face, and a Future Full of Possibility

Fita’s injury has permanently changed her appearance, but it does not have to determine the rest of her life. She has already shown an extraordinary ability to adapt, regain strength, and find enjoyment in the world around her.

Now, the next change she needs is a change of home: moving from recovery toward the lasting comfort of a family that will cherish her.

Some people may initially notice what makes Fita look different. But those willing to look a little longer will see a dog who can eat, play, connect with others, and greet people with a wagging tail. They will see a survivor who has worked through an incredibly difficult beginning and is ready for the chance to belong.

Fita does not need someone to feel sorry for her forever. She needs someone willing to give her a real place in their life, with the patience to help her settle in and the affection to make her feel safe.

Her past may explain the scars she carries, but it does not have to decide her future.

Fita is ready for a family to see beyond her injury and fall in love with the dog she is today. After everything she has survived, she deserves the opportunity to discover what it means to be home.
